Under African Skies!

This is just for reference as per usual. I got my hands on a Netgear ADSL router DG834 that was configured for SA. I tried it here with normal settings PPP over ethernet.
But it just did not want to work. When I had a look in the router status, it was connected but no data was transfered, or atleast non that I could use

After a phone call to SA, I was informed that I must check the VPI, VCI setting and the Multiplexing method. Now the VPI was set to 8 and the VCI 35. I changd the VPI to 0 and left hte VCI at 35. The multiplexing remained LLC-Based. Settings gotten from another Huawei router.

That enabled me to get to use the ADSL router on our lines.

For future reference

the correct syntax to copy a file TO your/another server
scp file.txt user@host:/dir/u/choose

That works just fine

Next time when you want to change a user passwd, make sure to type the username… especially when you are logged in as root. You may not be so lucky to find that you just hit ‘enter’ after passwd and then continued to change the user account.b I have managed to log myself out for 3 days yeah it took me that long to realise my mistake

SO BEWARE, especially if its a remote server that you do not have access to all the time??

To all geekly (jeekly) persons out there. Don’t go into somebody else’s garage (because you most likely don own these) and pick up the any of the following:

welding machine, industrial drill or grinder (even the small handy ones)

For they will whip you (especially the welding machine) Take it from me! Whipped and paying the price.

Next time you muck around with themes or wordpress updates remember to insert the Google Analytics code

It help for the next time you decide to have a look at the stats and nothing shows

I see that they have a new version running. When you login, there are two options, the new version and the old version/interface.

If you want hot coffee, go to a coffee shop/bar. Do not attempt to get some at the office. It WILL get cold!!! I hardly get hot coffee at the office. Always gets cold. The reasons for it today would be mxit, WEB 2.0 . Trying to find out what the fuss is all about. i know it is old. but keeping up to date ain’t easy. Never forget an Administrator Password… and defintely not the Admin password for W2k3 Active Directory Server, you will pull your hair out. Beleive me it has been a week, that i have been trying to fix this mess. Sure there a couple of threads online with nifty tricks, and programs that claim it can be done, if your willing to fork out a couple hundred US$ But not all tricks work on the different kinds of setups.

finally got it working again, reset the the AD Domain Administator password. Took me more than a week to get done…

Step 1 : Check the that the monitor is plugged in.

Step 2: Switch on the darn machine !!!!
