Under African Skies!

May I make an assumption, hell it is my site after all

Surely you must be using some kind of open source software right? How otherwise will you stumble upon my blog. Or perhaps your one of the lucky folks searching for an African Safari, getting to my site. Doesn’t really matter to me, I am pretty sure you make use of a computer. So the question is still relevant.

Do you like/use Firefox, GAIM, Pidgin, Open Office or any other kind of open software on your personal or work computer?

Having just moved over to a windows XP box to check out a site in IE. I was reminded why I moved to linux and firefox combination.

Running about 4 windows of IE6, they just suddenly vanish into thin air. No error, no pop-up “send to Microsoft”, nothing just gone.

Note that I don’t claim that firefox doesn’t crash, or my linux installation don’t go a might crazy now and then. But at least when firefox crashes, it helps me to “recover session”, no need to go in the history to find the last accessed URL’s. Just makes life a little easier, that is why we use computers in the first place isn’t it.

What a lovely way to end the working week, with a rant

Got this from a friend. I just love it…

When you are in the office say for about 20 minutes. You haven’t even finished the first cup of coffee, it’s still hot and steaming next to your keyboard(talk about dangerous). Those are the last words you want to hear.

Guy pops into the office and starts off with “Good morning, I don’t know what happened…..I just wanted to add….”

That’s is NOT how I want to start the/any morning. I’m just clad it’s not Monday!!
I don’t think I would have survived, he definitely would not have.

Rob has mentioned that the blogosphere is very quite. Well it sure is… I for one have been very quiet, not that I have been very talkative anyway. My usual blogroll have also been much quieter than usual.

I have just been keeping myself busy away from the blikbrein for a while…need some space. Don’t have much to say, but I am sure you could gather that much from the previous post. either that or I’m really disturbed

But I have been in my garage again. Luckily no heavy duty machinery there Tinkering with the heap(mess) of wires, that is suppose to make up my cortina’s wiring. Yes I believe it is a 1983 MK5 Ford Cortina, well the shell at least. If you lift the bonnet(hood) you’ll just find an ordinary 2.0L diesel, turbo charged I might add, Toyota engine inside.
To make a long story short, impost engine, very old bakkie and way too many people have worked on it. Now I did not start the work, I got it from my father. And for the past year I have yet to figure out the wiring. Reason: I’m too cheap/stubborn to get a real professional to do the job. That’s just me.

I have finally managed to sit down and go through my list of drafts and decide what to finish and at last post.
Yeah I know I’ve neglected the blog. I’ve been busy with the usual you know, work, play, Wimbledon (hell yeah) and off course reading.

Note: not quite so easy to type when your cat wants to roll up between your arms on the desk….its chilly upstairs.

Just a quick question, how long on average does it take to write a post ?
I mean some people must be spending like what seems to be hours to draft a post. How long does it take. How many time do you save and edit, before the final post ?
Personally no more than 5-10 min for me, I don’t spend much time on grammar and style of writing. I just like to make sure at least the spelling is correct I guess this last piece should have been a separate post

I feel like a small boy, waiting to play with a new toy.

Yeah tomorrow I will be participating in a dragon boat race. Can’t wait.

Just for fun though, I hope it is fun.

First off, I didn’t want to get out of bed. But i finally do and and make it to work. Later putting on my glasses, aftersitting too long, way too many articles.

That is when it gets bad. Get the spectacles to see better and miss the cup of coffee on the desk, which lands in my lap. Hot coffee. Not funny.

To make matters worse I get one of those clients you just can’t accommodate. You turn left, right, flip upside down. Nothing seems to work. That ends the “working day on a HIGH note”.

Get home switch on the PC. Directly at the wall socket since I switched it off there, due to the lovely weather we’re having. As I turn around the LAMP server’s PSu decides to blow smoke. Looking like a peace pipe.

And then to top it all, I get home and type the longest post I have ever typed.

What a day. Luckily the weekend is in sight. Oh goody!!

Quite awhile since the last post. I’ve been occupying myself with the internet and wireless networking the last couple of weeks.

Well the wireless led to internet access, which in return led to a lot of hours on the net and ealry mornings

And now I got yet another new toy to play with.
It’s Compaq Contura AERO4/25 I just have to see what can run on it!
